Mark Williams, PA

I was born in Libya (my father was in the oil business) to British parents and spent 8 years there before moving to East Texas. Currently I’m fluent in both English and American. And Texan. (All of which are essentially separate countries with their own distinct cultures and languages.)

I started my professional life as a mechanical engineer with both a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University (go Aggies!) and did drilling engineering work in west Africa and then Houston. My last engineering job was doing space station life support services as a contractor for NASA. It was incredibly rewarding but I eventually realized I like people better than things and switched over to medicine. Before returning to school, I worked several years as a CNA in everything from nursing homes to a San Diego level 1 trauma center and then attended PA school at Duke University in NC.

Outside of work, cycling has been a huge part of my life since middle school. My partner and I currently love to travel both locally and internationally and tour around by bike. I also love all the other outdoor activities available in southern Oregon, including fishing and skiing.

After 5 years without my own patient panel, I’m happy to be building long-term relationships with patients again, partnering with them to improve their quality of life. My emphasis is on lifestyle changes rather than meds (whenever possible). Ask me sometime about a whole-foods plant-based diet!
